DESIGN session2

In the first design class, we were doing some designs so in this class we were thinking about how to colour our designs. We use the Pantone app to help us find the colour chips. Because it is easy to make mistakes in colouring when painting, you can colour it well after finding out the colour and chroma through the help of Pantone.

What’s special is that I didn’t particularly think about proportions when I painted colour matching in the past, but this time we learned that colour proportions should be considered when colour matching. Different proportions can really create a completely different atmosphere! In the past, I was conservative in colour matching and relied on black and white, but in class, I started to force myself to use different colours. Although the effect is a bit childish, the effect is still very good after some adjustments.

Next, we started to thing think about fabric. The same colour can have completely different effects on different fabrics. When I searched for different fabrics, I noticed more special materials and learned some rare words, because I only knew very basic words like cotton or polyester before. Oftentimes, the correct English translation cannot be found. When doing this SDS task, the colour ratio becomes very important because there are four outfits that need to be arranged. I first determined the colour and then used the iPad to roughly confirm the effect of the colour matching and the four sets together before starting to colour, which can avoid the problem of colour selection only after halfway through the painting.
