MEDIA session 1

Before the media class, we customised a pair of shoes based on our gallery research. I choose David Bomberg’s work as my inspiration. He was a British artist and part of vorticism. It was totally new for me. I knew abstract expressionism, Impressionism, but I never heard about vorticism before I did this research. They tried to put the art and industry revolution together so I used a lot of screws, nuts, gears and wire to represent the industry revolution.

I wanted to create an atmosphere that combined industry and some romantic so I tried to use a heater and sunshine to take some video. Another idea was great that I want to take a video in front of the left, create a Cinderella vibe. Let my model looks like drop a shoe and run away, But my shoes were too fragile and one of them broke during the shooting. Therefore I had to change my plan, shooting a lot of photos to make a video.

Although I encountered some problems during the shooting, I think some shooting problems can be remedied through filter and edit. In the class, I also saw the work of many classmates. Everyone has the same time, but some people can make very mature works in a short time. This makes me very impressed! I am completely new to film production, but seeing everyone’s work gives me a lot of inspiration.
